CHORAL COMPOSITION COMPETITION
We are pleased to announce the winners of our 1st Annual Choral Composition Competition:
1st Place: Dr. Joshua Fishbein – Magnify the Light
2nd Place: Michael Daugherty – Conjuring the Parade of a Bygone Era
3rd Place: Meg Green – Hymn for America
The competition was established by our Artistic Director and Conductor Brent Douglas to encourage and support new choral compositions by American composers. With over 20 years of experience as a dedicated and accomplished choral ensemble, he believed it was the perfect time for the Chorale to expand its reach and collaborate with talented composers.
Dr. Fishbein of Rockville, Maryland won the honor of a public performance of his composition by The Venice Chorale on Sunday, February 23 at the Venice Performing Arts Center. He was also awarded $1,000 which was sponsored by former Chorale board member and longtime patron, Mrs. Sandra Werrell of Venice.
Please watch for the announcement later this fall for how to apply for the 2025-26 concert season competition. Contact info@thevenicechorale.org if you have questions.
