The concert choir of The Venice Chorale started as Exsultate! in 2002. The choir has a membership of approximately 120 with about 90 singers performing in any given concert. The beautiful Venice Performing Arts Center is the choir’s home. We are working with our third Artistic Director, Peter Madpak and our wonderful Accompanist, Mary Jeanne Moorman.
Come Sing with Us!
Auditions for the concert choir are at the beginning of each concert rehearsal period. Auditions are open to all qualified singers, high school age and older, with choral experience, vocal flexibility, control, reading skills, and ensemble awareness.
Singers will be expected to sing a short solo piece and requested to sight read a simple melody. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring in an extra copy of the music for this purpose.
We have a three-concert season, with concerts in December, February, and April, and practice weekly on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:15, with some Saturday mornings if necessary. Schedules are provided at the beginning of the season. All performances and rehearsals occur at the Venice Performing Arts Center.
A yearly membership fee of $75.00 or $140/couple for adults is paid at the singer’s first rehearsal. Scholarships are available. Fees are waived for all high school students. Participants are also resonsible for their own concert clothes. The uniform for gentlemen is a simple black tuxedo with white shirt and bow tie and black dress shoes. Information for women’s attire is included in the Singer’s Handbook. Black closed-toed shoes complete the ensemble. Aid for students to purchase concert attire is available.
More information on auditions is available by contacting email@example.com or calling 941-220-5126. Before coming to the audition, please download, print and complete the audition form to turn in at the time of your audition.
