2023-24 SINGING ASSESSMENTS
We are thrilled that you’re interested in joining us for singing. Each concert season, we hold assessments in September. If you’re a singer aged 14 or older residing in the greater Venice area, we’re eager to hear from you – especially if you’re a tenor or bass!
Potential singers should be able to read music or learn quickly by rote. Our primary focus is on vocal tone, blending capabilities (without excessive vibrato), pitch maintenance, as well as listening and reading proficiencies. AND, we have fun making music!
What’s the assessment process like?
You will sing a few scales and exercises, sight read, and sing the melody of MY COUNTRY ‘TIS OF THEE (click here) and meet our Artistic Director/Conductor Brent Douglas.
How can you schedule an assessment?
When and where do the assessments take place?
We have been scheduling assessments on September 18 and 25 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
There is still time available on:
9/25 8:00pm or 8:45pm
Beginning October 2, we will be scheduling up to four assessments at 6:30pm prior to the start of regular rehearsal time at 7:00pm.
Rehearsal hall is located on the Venice High School Campus, 1 Indian Avenue, building #42, behind the Venice Performing Arts Center. From Business 41/Tamiami Trail S., take E. Milan Avenue and cross Bahama Street directly onto campus; follow drive around to the rear parking lot.
